Vaivorykšte Playing Cards
“I fell in love with historic Lithuanian cards… I decided to revive these beautiful cards—to track down the few remaining copies and reprint them.”
— Danielius Korsakas, Creator
A Vivid Piece of History
Step back into the interwar period with a meticulously restored Lithuanian deck originally created for a government competition in 1933. Revived from the archives of the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art, Vaivorykštė features distinct rim colors for each suit—creating a vivid “rainbow” effect when spread or fanned.
Masterful Historic Artistry
Hand-drawn by renowned Lithuanian-Russian artist Mstislav Dobuzhinsky, the deck is filled with intricate Lithuanian Folk Art ornamentation:
- Aces — T (Tūzas), with elaborate decorative motifs
- Kings — K (Karalius), with crowns stylized by suit symbols
- Queens — M (Mergelė), with traditional imagery and floral details
- Jacks — B (Berniukas), featuring farming scythes and the kanklės instrument
