Falcon by Cartamundi

This deck is thin (real thin), soft, supple, and delicate (almost too delicate for average-sized male hands). Nonetheless, it has a wonderfully perfect cut. Shuffling is pleasurable. It did have a disagreeable odor to it out of the box--as did the box as well--but it gassed off after a day. Now, I'm allergic to scents; this was not something I was allergic to, but didn't care for a whole lot either. Nonetheless, I was thinking this was my golden fleece of decks (I have 40 different decks). So, I bought four more with some intention of giving out a couple as gifts. The next deck was good but not quite as clean in the shuffling. More importantly, the smell has not gassed off the new box for a couple weeks. The cards are okay, but the box still has trace elements of chemical smell. It's hard to give such a thing as a gift. But maybe the smell wouldn't bother most people--I'm hypersensitive to odors. I give it three stars for having a smell and for being a tad too thin; if you have small thumbs, though, it might be perfect. On the positive side, the cards don't travel or spin when you put them down on a wood table. They have very good "stay putness." I noticed the same with Cartamundi's Copag 310's (which have no odor at all out of the box). Perhaps it's the horizontal line finish (as opposed to USPCC's teeny dimples), or the slight backward arc of the cards which when laid down face up, have both the bottom and top of the card touching the table (as opposed to just the middle section only, which of course is going to produce a bit of spin and travel). Some people might not appreciate this slight bow, but it does aid in "stay putness" which I find important. Despite my 3-star review, I would recommend this to anyone who is a collector as this deck is definitely out of the ordinary and is likely to greatly appeal to some.
